The new copy cats of the Indian Music Industry

Want to know about the new copied or ( in Mr. Maliks words ) "inspired" songs in movies?

Check this out.

More can be read here.

Thanks to Deep for the information.

Its Just Everywhere...

Turn on the FM you can hear that voice...
A car passing by... you can hear that voice coming out of the car speakers...
Visit a party... again that voice.
Passing by a music store... again that voice.
Surfing the TV channels... that voice again.

I wish my ears could have a sensor to detect that voice... so that I could be deaf for the time that voice is heard.

Please read this to find out what that voice is.

Rahman on CNN IBN....

I missed this interview on CNN IBN. But thanks to the internet for posting it here.

I also liked the way Rahman was introduced..

"He is considered India's most respected musicians. He has been credited with giving Indian film music a global, a more original, more unique sound. He is also one of the highest selling artists in the world, having sold more than 50 million albums in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. He has also made a very successful crossover to the West, while his roots, his first love, continues to be Indian music. He is A R Rahman. "

Rajeev Masand: Your score for Roja was ranked by the Time magazine as one of the 10 best scores in the world. How do you look back at it now, since so many years have passed since Roja? Is that flattering?
A R Rahman: Yes, it’s quite flattering. It’s a small world, isn’t it? You see Inside Man using Chhaiyyan Chhaiyyan, Lord of War using Bombay theme.
Rajeev Masand:Do you think Roja is your best work?
A R Rahman: It’s probably my first good work. Like I said about Mani Ratnam, who gave me my first good work. It brings back all those memories. It gave me the urge to go further and maintain quality work, crossing over to the North Indian audience with the film, lyrics which were never imagined before.

When will this end...

Early Monday morning at nearly 2:30 am, 22 people were killed when the militants pumped bullets in to their body. Where can this happen in India? We can blindly say Kashmir. A gift to our country by our neighbor based militant organizaton which has taken the responsiblity for the attacks proudly. Read this news for more details.

Who will make those people understand... not to misuse the teachings of such a wonderful religion they follow? I am sure no religion allows anyone to wake up people from their sleep... then assemble them together at a place... then simply fire bullets at them.

Well... I know what will our country do over this issue... sit quite. After all we are peace lovers!!!

But would ask the government to answer this question of people from Kashmir...

WHEN WILL THIS END ?

My Favorites from Fanaa

Bought the CD of Fanaa yesterday. Wonder why I bought a non ARR indian CD? Well, Liked the songs so much that... i should say it was a worth. I will take you through the songs one by one.. Not all... but the ones which I loved. ( I loved most of them ! )

I had read in many reviews that the music of Fanaa has a Rahmanish effect. This is true to an extent... you can find Rahman trademarks here and there.. but kudos to the Duo Jatin-Lalit.. they have composed a wonderful album. After RDB this is one album, which you can say is high on quality music.

I'll Start with my favorite track of the Movie:

1) Mere Haath Mein:
I am not a Sonu Nigam fan, but I like some of his works. He just needs to be selective, needs to select some good song as this.

"Mere haath mein tera haath ho,
Saari janatein mere saath ho,
tujo jo paas ho,
phir kya yeh jahan,
tere pyaar mein ho jaun Fanaa"
Amazing lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. He does an amazing work as he did in RDB. This is an awesome track. Slow and melodious. What made me like this song was the the dialogues in between by Kajol and Amir.
In between you can hear Amir say
"Rone de aaj humko,
do aankhein sujane de,
bahon mein lele aur khud ko beeg jaane de,
hai jo seene mein kaid dariya,
woh chut jaayega,
hai itna dard ki daman tera bheeg jaayega! "
Awesome!
Entire credit goes to Prasoon and Sonu.
2) Dekho Na
This track seems to be composed by Rahman. ( Well its not that ). Seems the duo have been influenced by Rahman so much, this song has a feel of Rahman. Specially when the Veena playing in between the western beats, the flute, A Rahmanish male voice singing in between the track. ( Remember Rahman singing in between the Kehna Hi Kya song from Bombay).
A very good romantic number. Will make you miss your Girl Friend everytime you hear it. (I missed you Ankita! )
3) Chand Sifarish
Superbly sung by Shaan & Kailash Kher joins in singing "Subhan Allah" in his amazing Sufi voice. The tabla beats accompanied by the metal guitar makes it a wonderful song to hear too.
You can hear a whistle (which sounds like the Yaara Yaara track from Hum Tum) in the middle of the song. A good track and will be a hit soon.
A remixed version Fanaa for you mixed by DJ Aqueel is included in the CD.
4) Chanda Chamke
This is more of a tongue twister than a song. The composers use their Yaara Yaara tune from Hum Tum. A Good song... sorry a tongue twister.
My favorite part is...
" Pake ped par paka papita,
paka ped ya paka papita,
pake ped ko pakde pinku,
pinku pakde paka papita "
Amir sings a part of this song. ( The one mentioned above! ).
A fun filled song with lot of kids singing in between. Loved this track! And I am sure you will too!
Altogether a good album.
If you want escape from Reshammiya... then Fanaa is the route you must follow. And I am sure you will not regret!

Now thats what you call Fans!!!

Was amazed when i read this article about a group of A R Rahman Fans in a blog...

" Around the same time in 2005, fans of renowned music director A. R. Rahman were hard at work organizing a concert in Bangalore. These guys managed everything from promotions and ticket sales to stage construction and crowd control on the day of the concert (October 8, 2005). As part of their effort to gain recognition as the official Rahman fan group, they also decided to present Rahman with a gift a montage, composed of thumbnail images of all his album covers, which formed the contours of his face. Faced with the prospect of buying expensive software, a group of fans (who run a design company called 3xus.com) went on to develop their own software. After many sleepless nights of painstaking coding, they finally got to meet Rahman and present the gift. A few days later, they learned that Rahman liked the gift and planned to display it in his studio in Chennai. This is a story of fan activity that mainstream media completely ignored.

Acknowledging these fans perseverance, technical and marketing savvy, and global network established through online activities, Rahman and his team have decided to collaborate with them to promote and organize concerts in different cities worldwide, evolve new modes of music distribution, and work together to tackle piracy. "

Now take a look at their output...

Thats what you call fans are!

Bandeh!

The song which rules my playlist from last few weeks is Bandeh... An awesome work from Indian Ocean for the movie Black Friday which due to the contraversy surrounding it, did not find its way to the silver screen. Thanx to Puneet who mailed me the lyrics...

arey ruk jaa...arey tham jaa...
arey ruk jaa re bandey
arey tham jaa re bandey
ki kudrat hans padegi ho...

arey neendein hain zakhmi
arey sapney hain bhookhey
ki karvat phat padegi ho...

arey mandir ye chup hain
arey mazjid ye gumsum
ibadat thak padegi ho...

samay ki laal aandhi
kabristan ke raste
arey lathpath chalegi ho...

kisey kaafir kahega
kisey kaayar kahega
teri kab tak chalegi ho...

ye andhi chot teri
kabhi ki suukh jaati
magar ab puck chalegi...

Such a wonderful work. Hope the music lovers in India would appriciate such works than the Nasal Effect or the Surooorz..... and Oooooooooz ... !

A peek in to Vista!

When Windows XP was launched years before... what caught my attention was its looks. Ofcourse we had a better looking Mac OS but I am a windows user. Now when the redmond based software gaint is launching out its new OS named Windows Vista.. I was curious about its looks.

Recently I got a chance to view a glimpse of it when i was digging through... and was amazed by beauty of it. Good work done by the designers at Microsoft. Now what to look forward is ... how secure it is... or the first thing we would have to do is to search for the Security patches once the OS is installed!

Anyways one thing is for sure ... I should get ready to get a powerful AGP Card and some more RAM so that my system can breathe well!

You can view vista pics here....

Missing you...

Such a good weather out here... The first rain. Ankita, I Wish you were here! Wish we could celebrate this great weather together...

This song by Marc Anthony is for you...

I Want To Spend My Lifetime To Loving You

Moon so bright, night so fine
Keep your heart here with mine
Life's a dream we are dreaming

Race the moon, catch the wind
Ride the night to the end
Seize the day, stand up for the light
I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever do

Heroes rise, heroes fall
Rise again, win it all
In your heart, can't you feel the glory?
Through our joy, through our pain
We can move worlds again
Take my hand, dance with me
I want to spend my lifetime loving you

If that is all in life I ever do
I will want nothing else to see me through
If I can spend my lifetime loving you
Though we know we will never come again
Where there is love, life begins
Over and over again
Save the night, save the day
Save the love, come what may
Love is worth everything we pay
I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever doI want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever doI will want nothing else to see me through

If I can spend my life time loving you....

Performed by Marc Anthony

The Generation Awakens for Jessica!

When an innocent girl was shot in front of some 600 people at a night club in Delhi... no one could have imagined that the accused would be set free... just for reason that the cops couldn't produce a Eye Witness or anyother proof against him... or may be he was a ministers son.

This is the Indian system which is ment for the rich, who controls it. Nobody questions this system just because nobody cares about it ... But this statement of mine has been proved wrong by some young intelligent people who with the support of media stood up for Jessica.

NDTV has launced an SMS program where you can send in your SMS to 6388 with the field as JESSICA. There was a huge reponse to it.
A website http://unityisstrength.blogspot.com has been launched which contains a letter to the president of India (which they will be sending to him), in which they request for a re-investigation in to the case. People are requsted to comment on the website, which will also be sent to the president of India. There is a huge response to this as well. I too have commented there. Would request you to do the same.

A march to the India Gate ( Remember Rang De Basanti ) is happening on the 4th March.

I am not sure if all this will help in changing the system or not... I am not even sure we can bring the accused behind the bars... But I am sure... everyone will know.... The Generation has awakened!

A few words from Rang De Basanti..

" Ab bhi jiska khoon na khaula... woh khoon nahi paani hai..
Jo desh ke kaam na aaya... woh bekar jawani hai "

Dhoni Power!

I became a fan of him when i saw him hitting the Lankans hard at Jaipur. He has hit the pakiz hard too! I am sure about the bright future of our team with people like Dhoni and Yuvraj in. You guys have made our country proud. Well done! & Congrats to the man who now ranks No. 3.
