Bought the CD of Fanaa yesterday. Wonder why I bought a non ARR indian CD? Well, Liked the songs so much that... i should say it was a worth. I will take you through the songs one by one.. Not all... but the ones which I loved. ( I loved most of them ! )
I had read in many reviews that the music of Fanaa has a Rahmanish effect. This is true to an extent... you can find Rahman trademarks here and there.. but kudos to the Duo Jatin-Lalit.. they have composed a wonderful album. After RDB this is one album, which you can say is high on quality music.
I'll Start with my favorite track of the Movie:
1) Mere Haath Mein:
I am not a Sonu Nigam fan, but I like some of his works. He just needs to be selective, needs to select some good song as this.
"Mere haath mein tera haath ho,
Saari janatein mere saath ho,
tujo jo paas ho,
phir kya yeh jahan,
tere pyaar mein ho jaun Fanaa"
Amazing lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. He does an amazing work as he did in RDB. This is an awesome track. Slow and melodious. What made me like this song was the the dialogues in between by Kajol and Amir.
In between you can hear Amir say
"Rone de aaj humko,
do aankhein sujane de,
bahon mein lele aur khud ko beeg jaane de,
hai jo seene mein kaid dariya,
woh chut jaayega,
hai itna dard ki daman tera bheeg jaayega! "
Entire credit goes to Prasoon and Sonu.
2) Dekho Na
This track seems to be composed by Rahman. ( Well its not that ). Seems the duo have been influenced by Rahman so much, this song has a feel of Rahman. Specially when the Veena playing in between the western beats, the flute, A Rahmanish male voice singing in between the track. ( Remember Rahman singing in between the Kehna Hi Kya song from Bombay).
A very good romantic number. Will make you miss your Girl Friend everytime you hear it. (I missed you Ankita! )
3) Chand Sifarish
Superbly sung by Shaan & Kailash Kher joins in singing "Subhan Allah" in his amazing Sufi voice. The tabla beats accompanied by the metal guitar makes it a wonderful song to hear too.
You can hear a whistle (which sounds like the Yaara Yaara track from Hum Tum) in the middle of the song. A good track and will be a hit soon.
A remixed version Fanaa for you mixed by DJ Aqueel is included in the CD.
4) Chanda Chamke
This is more of a tongue twister than a song. The composers use their Yaara Yaara tune from Hum Tum. A Good song... sorry a tongue twister.
My favorite part is...
" Pake ped par paka papita,
paka ped ya paka papita,
pake ped ko pakde pinku,
pinku pakde paka papita "
Amir sings a part of this song. ( The one mentioned above! ).
A fun filled song with lot of kids singing in between. Loved this track! And I am sure you will too!
Altogether a good album.
If you want escape from Reshammiya... then Fanaa is the route you must follow. And I am sure you will not regret!
